An Attractive Mitigation Bank

The PWWR, located in Copley Township just west of Akron, is under development on a 150-acre farm. Rich Carlisle muck soil, once drained to produce a variety of vegetables, now stands ready for the propagation of wetland plants and wildlife. Learn the History of PWWR

Unique Qualities

PWWR received its permit from the Ohio EPA and Army Corps of Engineers on September 2, 1999. Upon preliminary inspection, PWWR was given a high anticipated success rating. In addition to an existing sub-surface wetland seed bank, most of the natural hydrology can be easily restored on this well isolated site. Learn More About PWWR’s Unique Qualities

A Living Laboratory

PWWR will serve multiple purposes. In addition to the development of a category 2 wetland environment for mitigation, the project will serve as a living laboratory for local schools and nearby universities to contribute to research and education – focused on wetland conversion and maintenance.
